AmerCable Claims “World’s Fastest Cable Company Trophy
AmerCable employees from all over the world once again made their annual January pilgrimage to the company’s headquarters in El Dorado, Arkansas for our All-Employee Meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to share vision, review goals and celebrate another record setting year for the AmerCable team. AmerCable completely shuts down the factory and closes all offices so everyone can attend.
This year’s NASCAR-themed meeting focused on AmerCable’s market dominance in speed, which is demonstrated daily with the shortest lead times and best on-time delivery rate in the industry.
“The All-Employee Meeting is an extremely important part of our company’s culture, and this year’s racing theme was extremely appropriate” says AmerCable president and CEO Robert F. (Bob) Hogan. “In car racing or cable manufacturing, the difference between success and failure is small. Our ability to deliver high quality products around the world on-time and faster than anyone else is putting us in the winner’s circle.”
The meeting began with a video spoof of the NASCAR comedy Talladega Nights. Our version, titled El Dorado Nights, featured Bob Hogan – supported by his huge pit crew – driving the AmerCable car to victory in the “Cabletona 500.” Afterward, Mr. Hogan began the meeting by reviewing the company’s “Mission Possible” statement, core values and our outstanding achievements in 2006.
Following Mr. Hogan was an entertaining presentation from the Mining and Industrial Group, who did their presentation in a Saturday Night Live format. Not to be outdone, the Oil & Gas group wowed everyone with their bizarre version of Deal or No Deal. The Operations group completed the day with a Larry the Cable Guy “Git er Done” style presentation.
The final highlight of the day was an appearance by Termite Watkins, a former professional boxer, author and motivational speaker. Mr. Watkins shared the interesting story of how he voluntarily went to Iraq to help control insects for the Army, but ended up forming an Iraqi Olympic boxing team.
The All-Employee meeting was started in 1996, and was attended this year by employees and distributor-partners from international locations such as Australia, Canada, China, and Singapore.
